Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua addressed a national video conference on improving pork production and ensuring stable market supplies, pressing for sound obligation fulfillment and practical policy implementation.

Favorable pork supplies, Hu said, plays an irreplaceable part in upholding stable economic development and an orderly society.

Provincial authorities should monitor the related work with mayors bearing the core responsibilities, in a bid to resume pork production with immediate effect, Hu said.

Departments should encourage the pig-raising plant owners to replenish their livestock and apply standardized pig-breeding modes, with feasible supportive approaches taken.

All-around regulatory preparations, compounded with a slew of practical measures, should come into place, in order to prevent pork supply shortage and abnormal price fluctuations, Hu said.

Departments concerned should beef up safety supervisions on pork products’ quality, establish a self-inspection system during slaughtering process and an official vet deployment system, deter pork producers from illegal behavior, with stress on curbing substandard pork products.

A sound epidemic prevention system against the African swine fever should come into place as soon as possible, Hu said.
