On November 29, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Peruvian Foreign Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra in Beijing.
Wang Yi welcomed Meza-Cuadra to China to attend the third Ancient Civilizations Forum. He said both China and Peru are ancient civilizations and emerging markets. The long history and civilization have given both sides a profound and long-term perspective, and China has always viewed and promoted China-Peru relations from a strategic perspective, he said.
China is willing to work with Peru to jointly build Belt and Road Initiative, integrate the development strategies of the two countries, expand practical cooperation, so as to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Peru faster and better, and build a community with a shared future for mankind, Wang said. China supports Peru in hosting the fourth Ancient Civilizations Forum next year.
Meza-Cuadra said Peru is willing to actively participate in the joint construction of Belt and Road Initiative, and deepen practical cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and other fields between the two countries. Peru appreciates China's support for multilateralism, and is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation in international and regional affairs with China, he said.
The two sides also exchanged views on Venezuela and other issues.
