CPC capable of continuous policies to ensure China’s rapid development: Iranian expert

TEHERAN — The Communist Party of China (CPC) will carry out continuous policies to ensure China’s rapid development, said an Iranian expert.

In a recent interview with Xinhua, Mohammad Reza Barkhordari, a senior researcher with the Teheran International Research Center, said he studied the documents of the 19th CPC National Congress.

As a result, he said, he found out that the reason for the CPC’s success over the past years is that it has found the right path for development based on China’s realities.

Barkhordari went to China in 1997 to study Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University.

Since then, the Iranian expert said, China has witnessed rapid development with gross domestic product (GDP) up 11 times from one trillion US dollars 20 years ago to 11 trillion last year.

“The area where my university is located was then a part of the suburb, now it has become a modernized commercial center,” the expert recalled.

Through reforms and opening up, China has found a development path that conforms to its national realities, or socialism with Chinese characteristics, he said.

The achievement is attributable to the CPC’s policy of seeking truth from facts, he said, adding that the policy is very practical for China both at the present and in the future.

“We could say that China is still a developing country in terms of overall wealth, although China is already very developed in the GDP sector,” he said.

On the fight against corruption, the Iranian expert said China has developed an approach to solve a universal problem with fruitful results, thanks to the CPC’s determination and actions.

Regarding China’s development plan, Barkhordari listed reducing poverty and narrowing the wealth gap as the most important issues.

Moreover, he said that China should play a more active role in regional and global affairs and China’s experience in pursuing prosperity, development and modernization should be a model for the world.

For example, the Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013, delivers an invitation to dozens of countries to join and their participation will surely be mutually beneficial, the expert added.
