BEIJING — Leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent congratulatory messages to President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
The following is an edited summary of some of these messages.
President of the Communist Party of Chile Guillermo Teillier and Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Chile Lautaro Carmona said the victory of the Chinese revolution has profoundly changed the historical process of China, which has great significance to the development of mankind.
Cecile La Grenade, Governor-general of Grenada, said that over the past 70 years, Chinese people have made their country great in the world with their foresight, hard work and determination. She wishes China continuous victories on its road to prosperity.
Antigua and Barbuda's Governor-General Rodney Williams said China is making progress with each passing day and has a profound influence on the world, adding that he wishes China prosperity.
Dominica's President Charles Savarin said his country is willing to constantly deepen exchanges and cooperation with China, and further consolidate and develop bilateral relations.
Papua New Guinea (PNG) Governor-General Bob Dadae said PNG values the good relationship between the two countries and welcomes China's more important leading role in international affairs.
President David W. Panuelo of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) said that China, as a responsible and pragmatic country, has always been committed to promoting peace, harmony, cooperation and common development in international affairs.
He said the FSM is determined to develop relations between the two countries, and expects to build closer friendship and partnership with China.
Secretary-General of the Organization of American States Luis Almagro said he expects to strengthen the fruitful partnership with China in a bid to promote peace and development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Qu Dongyu said the FAO witnesses the great contributions China has made to the world's food security and agricultural development.
China has managed to lift over 800 million people out of poverty, a miracle in the history of poverty reduction and human development, Qu said, adding that China has been making greater contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals for humanity by sharing its development experience and initiatives with the world.
Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder said China has undergone significant development over the past seven decades and made substantial contributions to global prosperity and development.
The ILO highlights China's important role and hopes to continue to deepen the partnership with the country, Ryder said.
World Bank President David Malpass wishes Chinese people happiness, peace and prosperity.
President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao said China has made outstanding achievements in promoting economic growth and reducing poverty, adding that the ADB is honored to blaze a new development path with China as partners and provide an example for other developing countries in the region.
Nakao said he expects to keep up with the sound cooperation with China so as to share its development experience with other developing countries.
President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun said China is committed to reform and opening-up, and has opened up a bright future for Chinese people, thus constantly integrating the country into the world.
Noting that China upholds multilateralism, which would bring unlimited potential, Jin said the AIIB will dock with the Belt and Road Initiative and promote regional cooperation as well as economic integration through high-quality programs of infrastructure investment.
