Premier Li Keqiang has continued his official visit to Australia. During an annual meeting with his Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull at Parliament House in Canberra, Premier Li said China will join Australia in safeguarding the global trade system.

Turnbull said Australia is willing to boost mutual trust and maintain stable cooperation with China. The two leaders also oversaw the signing of an extended two-year free trade deal, which comes after growing bilateral trade and economic cooperation in recent years.

Trade between the two countries hit a record high of $107 billion in 2016, making China Australia’s biggest trading partner for the past eight consecutive years.
