China and Australia will stand together for free trade, said visiting Premier Li Keqiang during a luncheon speech in the Australian capital Canberra on March 23.

“I come here for free trade,” Premier Li said, adding that China and Australia have a close relationship that will continue to prosper despite growing anti-globalization in America and around the world.

“We need to seize the opportunities available and continue to expand our trade, instead of closing our doors,” he told his audience at Parliament House in Canberra. ‍

Premier Li also condemned the terrorist attack in which at least five people were killed in London on March 22.

“We stand against all forms of terrorism,” said Premier Li, calling for joint efforts from China and Australia for world peace.

The Premier is on a five-day visit to Australia that will see him and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull hold their fifth annual meeting. The two will also attend a forum on China-Australia economic and trade cooperation.
