China has responded to the latest report from the US Department of Commerce that the US trade deficit with China dropped by 28 percent in February compared to the same period last year. On April 13, the Commerce Ministry said it has never pursued a trade surplus against the US.

Sun Jiwen, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, said that the imbalance of trade between China and the US is attributed by the differences in economic structures, industry competitiveness, and international industry division.

He added that China is willing to import more from the US, as well as hoping that the US can readjust its policy toward exporting goods to China and creating chances for rebalancing the trade deficit.
