The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) is a Chinese satellite navigation system.
Since 2000, it has offered limited positioning and navigation services mainly for users in China and neighboring regions.
Now China plans to launch about 18 third-generation BeiDou (Beidou-3) satellites and build a network of 35 satellites with global coverage by the end of 2020. The satellite network will provide services for global users with a priority to serve the Belt and Road countries and regions.
