The State Council issued a notice on June 27 announcing the appointment of Vice-Premier Han Zheng as director of the food safety commission and the reshuffle of the commission.

Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua and State Councilor Wang Yong will be the deputy directors.

Other members of the commission will be senior officials of the Party and State Council departments.

The office of the food safety commission was set up at the State Administration for Market Regulation, which manages the day-to-day operations.
