I think that as China grows in this world, it might be a good idea to set up programs for long term expats to have cultural trainings at their companies or local offices. They can get reading materials or attend trainings. For example, we all should learn how to properly give face as this is a valuable quality of local people. If internationals had a greater understanding of the mindset of local people, upon arrival, they would be able to adapt and do more for the community. This kind of training could also be mutually shared between international and Chinese partners alike on a local level. The Canadian named Da Shan did a good job at promoting Chinese values on CCTV International and helping bridge some gaps. Now would be the time to further his work, on a city to city level, but as sponsored by the government. Please think about the qualities of being a Chinese and why internationals come to China as opposed to other countries. First, China has a wonderful and long history. Second, Chinese culture is unique and very interesting and beneficial to the world, such as studying the teachings of Confucius on a worldwide social studies level for many elementary school students abroad. Third, China has many attractions, man made and natural that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. These attractions create a sense of pride for the locals and help bring China closer to the world. This also helps to bring international income to China and the Chinese people. The more we can learn about China, the easier it is to understand and eliminate the stereotypes and help promote good business and social relationships. I am not sure whether this is something that anyone would want to be discussing at this time but if it is, this topic would have a very positive impact on the economy and the world wide relationships between different people. This is a very big topic in fact and it is something companies, friends, students, and tourists all enjoy discussing and learning.
