Premier Li Keqiang met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on March 26 and called for stronger cooperation in infrastructure construction.

The president is paying a state visit to China and to attend the 2015 Boao Forum for Asia.

Li noted that Sargsyan and President Xi Jinping signed a joint declaration to further develop and deepen the countries’ friendly and cooperative relationship, which “injected new driving forces into the development of the bilateral relationship”.

China is committed to mutual respect, treating each other on equal footing, supporting each other, deepening friendly cooperation and boosting common development along with Armenia, Li said.

The Premier said China enjoys an advanced and abundant production capacity in a number of fields. It has accumulated rich experiences in the construction of infrastructure and its equipment is cost effective.

China is ready to correspond to the new development plan for Armenia and embark on cooperation in fields that include railways, motorways, nuclear power and electricity, he said.

China is also willing to help Armenia construct production lines of steel, cement and plate glass. Raw materials could be obtained locally for starting infrastructure construction and the industrialization process of Armenia will be boosted, achieving mutual benefits and a win-win situation, Li added.

The performance of the bilateral committee on economic and trade cooperation should be boosted, promoting exchanges and cooperation in areas such as economics and trade, culture and localities.

Sargsyan said the peoples of the two countries have enjoyed friendship for generations, and after the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral political mutual trust has deepened and the friendly cooperative relationship has been consistently promoted.

The two countries have become important political, economic and trade partners, and Armenia is willing to energetically tap into the potential of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, expand cooperation in tourism and aviation, expand cultural exchanges and promote common development, the president said.

The Armenian side welcomes Chinese enterprises coming to Armenia for investing, participating in infrastructure construction in areas such as motorways, nuclear power and electricity and cooperating in the mining sector, he said.

Armenia places hope on its cooperation with China in regard to production capacity to boost its economic and social development, he added.
