Members of the THU Makerspace read Premier Li Keqiang’s letter which was delivered to them on May 4, China’s Youth Day.

The government will come up with more favorable policies to encourage people to be innovative and start their own businesses, Premier Li Keqiang said in a letter to students in Tsinghua University.

The letter was delivered to the THU Makerspace, a makers’ association of Tsinghua University, on China’s Youth Day, which falls on May 4.

The Premier was replying to students who had written him a letter telling him about the association and its work.

“I hope college students will work hard to seek the truth instead of being content with what they already know. I hope they will lay a solid academic foundation for their research. College students should not only learn from books, but also learn from practice,” he said in the letter.

“Society will come alive when young people are willing to start their own ventures. Our country will become vigorous when young people are full of innovative ideas,” he added.
