Premier Li Keqiang on Sept 2 met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who came to Beijing to attend commemorative activities of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

Premier Li said China and Egypt have a deep relationship and noted that next year will be the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. China will continue to support the stable development of Egypt; expand political mutual trust; enhance economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, the Premier said. China will also strengthen coordination and cooperation with Egypt in global and regional affairs, promote an all-around strategic partnership and regional peace and prosperity, he added.

The Premier said that the production capacity cooperation between the two countries has achieved positive progress - the two sides approved some cooperation projects in electric power and transportation. He expressed the hope that the two countries can innovate financing cooperation, provide convenience and guarantee for personnel exchanges, and achieve fruitful results in cooperation soon.

Sisi said that China and Egypt share a close strategic partnership and have a bright future for practical cooperation. He appreciated China’s support and will try to attract more Chinese companies to invest in the construction of the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone.

State Councilor Yang Jing also attended the meeting.
