Premier Li Keqiang will attend the sixth trilateral summit between China, Japan and the Republic of Korea to be held in Seoul as part of an official visit.

His visit to the ROK, scheduled from Oct 31 to Nov 2, is at the invitation of President Park Geun-hye, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Oct 26 in Beijing.

The trip also marks Premier Li’s first visit to the ROK since taking office in 2013. He will hold talks with Park and attend a series of commercial and cultural activities.

Trilateral cooperation between Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo is expected to be boosted following the leaders’ summit, Hua said.

Hua said China is also hoping to expand cooperation with the ROK and Japan in emerging fields such as industrial capacity, innovative economy, information technology and poverty alleviation, besides strengthening ties in traditional areas such as economy and trade, culture and sustainable development.

Describing the development of China-ROK relations as “on a fast lane”, Hua said leaders of both countries have maintained frequent communication to build a partnership of joint development, regional peace and global prosperity.
