Premier Li calls for connection of development strategies with ROK

Premier Li Keqiang stressed the importance of connecting development strategies of both countries, when he met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Hwang Kyo-ahn in Seoul on Nov 2.

A series of important consensuses have been reached after friendly and in-depth talks with the ROK President Park Geun-hye, the Premier said to Hwang. “We agreed to connect national development strategies, strengthen cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship, and explore ways to establish cooperation in third-party international capacity.”

The Premier added that he and Park also agreed to innovate trade cooperation modes and promote the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, by taking advantage of the Free Trade Agreement signed by the two countries.

“I hope relevant authorities of the two countries can work together to turn the consensuses into fruits at an early date, and push the China-ROK relations to an even higher level,” said the Premier.

He noted that promoting the connection of innovation cooperation strategies of both countries is an important achievement of his visit. By establishing platforms for bilateral innovation cooperation, such as an innovation and entrepreneurship park in Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan province, and promoting innovation cooperation among enterprises of China and ROK, mutual benefits of the two countries can be better improved, said Premier Li, adding that such explorations will boost industrial upgrade in China, particularly in the central and western regions, and also play an exemplary role for jointly exploiting third-party markets.

He said that China is willing to set up ministerial-level coordination mechanisms to discuss the establishment of a mutual fund, in order to provide support for innovation cooperation of enterprises.

Hwang Kyo-ahn said that the ROK and China have achieved considerable progress in cooperation in various fields. Taking Premier Li’s visit as an opportunity, the ROK is willing to turn the consensuses reached during the visit into implementation, strengthen strategic dialogues, and expand innovation cooperation. He also said that Seoul will actively explore third-party markets with China, enhance exchanges among young people, in an effort to push forward the development of the bilateral strategic partnership.
