Premier Li Keqiang met with a delegation led by US House of Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at Zhongnanhai in Beijing on Nov 13.

The common interests between the two countries far outweigh the differences, and the steady growth of China-US relations will also contribute to global peace, stability and development, Premier Li said.

China attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation between the legislative authorities of the two countries, which will boost mutual understanding, the Premier said.

China is willing to cooperate with the United States in clean-energy and energy-saving technology to make joint contributions to dealing with climate change, Premier Li said.

The Chinese government will take multiple measures to reduce the intensity of energy consumption, develop clean energy, and pursue sustainable development, he said.

China’s goal is to reach its peak of carbon dioxide emissions around 2030 and will try to achieve that target as soon as possible, Premier Li said.

The Chinese government will continue to adopt measures to reduce the intensity of energy consumption, develop clean energy and unswervingly take the path of green and sustainable development, the Premier added.

The Premier pointed out that the China-US relationship has been moving forward for more than 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, which serves the interests of the two countries and the world.

Pelosi said that the United States speaks highly of China’s development, especially the achievements China has made in reducing poverty.

The United States is willing to enhance communications with China in a friendly and candid manner to boost understanding, enlarge consensus and head for friendly cooperation, Pelosi said.
