Premier Li Keqiang on Nov 21 called for closer China-India cooperation as the two neighbors pursue similar development strategies.

“There lies huge potential for cooperation, as China has been advancing the initiative of ‘Made in China 2025’ while India has been promoting plans such as ‘Made in India’ and ‘Digital India’,” Premier Li said in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia while meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“China is willing to work with India to accelerate the project of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor,” said Premier Li.

Premier Li and Modi also exchanged views on the global economic situation and the economic development of both countries.

In agreement with Premier Li’s philosophy on the economy, Modi said Premier Li’s article published in the year-end edition of the Economist magazine, which talks about China’s 2016 economic development, left him a deep impression.

It was this year’s second meeting between the two leaders following Modi’s visit to Beijing in May.

“The Indian people still remember the impressive yoga and tai chi activities we held in Beijing’s Temple of Heaven,” Modi said.

Premier Li thanked Modi for extending birthday wishes online, saying their friendship has shown development for China-India relations.
