Premier Li Keqiang has extended deep condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families of the three Chinese citizens who were murdered after being taken as hostage in Mali.

In a written statement regarding the tragedy, the Premier requested the relevant departments to properly handle the aftermath.

He urged efforts in strengthening security precautions of Chinese agencies and enterprises stationed overseas in order to better protect Chinese personnel.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said on Nov 21 that China strongly condemns the attack on Nov 20 by the Jihadist Al-Murabitoun group in Bamako, Mali, which killed 27 people including three Chinese nationals.
