Premier: China, Bulgaria see broad prospects in cooperation

Premier Li Keqiang hailed China-Bulgaria relations and welcomed cooperation with Bulgaria in infrastructure construction, nuclear power, agricultural trade, tourism and cultural and educational exchanges as he met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at the Great Hall of the People on Nov 26 in Beijing.

Premier Li said China and Bulgaria enjoy a profound traditional friendship and China-Bulgaria relations witnessed a healthy and stable development.

Bulgaria, an important country in central and Eastern Europe, plays an active role in cooperation between China and central and eastern European countries. China attaches great importance to developing ties with Bulgaria and is willing to enhance exchanges at all levels and continue the friendly cooperative partnership, Premier Li said.

The Premier also said that the China-Bulgaria cooperation is promising. China is willing to participate in infrastructure construction projects brought up by Bulgaria, such as high-speed rail, expressway in the Black Sea region, negotiating trilateral nuclear power cooperation, cooperation in agricultural trade and tourism, and cultural and educational exchanges.

Borissov attended the Fourth Leaders’ Meeting of China and Central and Eastern European Countries, which was held from Nov 24 to 25 in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.

He sent his congratulations to China’s on successfully hosting the event.

Borissov said that political relation between China and Bulgaria remains strong and cultural and education exchanges have a solid foundation. Bulgaria expects to make joints efforts with China to promote bilateral ties and strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction and capacity cooperation.

Bulgaria appreciates China’s devotion in promoting ties between China and central and eastern European countries and is willing to coordinate with China in this effort, he said.
