Premier Li Keqiang has given instructions for the annual central conference on rural work, which convened from Dec 24 to Dec 25 in Beijing. The meeting mapped out important agricultural policies for next year and the period of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).
Premier Li hailed the progress achieved for the past five years in agriculture and urged governments to optimize agricultural structure and develop moderate-scale operations in various forms.
He said government should take effective measures to mobilize farmers to develop modern agriculture.
Moreover, the Premier called on improving rural infrastructure and pushed the new type of urbanization.
Additionally, Premier Li encouraged new business models and industries that spring from rural reform, which are expected to help farmers increase income.
