Premier Li Keqiang presided over a conference on Jan 26, attended by representatives from the fields of education, science and technology, culture, health, sports and grassroots citizens.
The meeting was aimed at gathering opinions on the drafts of the annual government work report and guidelines for the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).
The Premier said a good government should listen to voices from all walks of life so that policies are made and implemented to address urgent concerns of the people.
Regarding the training of more general medical practitioners at local level, raised by Zeng Yixin of the Beijing Hospital, the Premier said future reform should integrate medical security and insurance. He said the central government will boost investment in critical illness insurance to help patients relieve burdens.
Li Huoding, founder of an automation technology company in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, said the government should connect the initiative of mass entrepreneurship and innovation with manufacturing to turn good ideas into quality products.
The Premier said the government should provide convenience and create an environment of fair competition to stimulate public creativity.
In addition, the Premier called for enhanced policy support to develop education, science and technology, culture, health and sports.
