Premier sends positive message to nuclear energy meeting

Premier Li Keqiang on April 6 sent a congratulations message to the 20th Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference (PBNC 2016), saying that the peaceful use of nuclear energy can play an irreplaceable role to benefit mankind.

The Premier endorsed nuclear science and technology as one of the greatest scientific and technological achievements of the 20th century.

He also said that China adheres to developing nuclear power with security and efficiency and welcomes cooperation with other countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

Premier Li said he hopes that representatives at the meeting will conduct thorough discussions on enhancing safe nuclear energy development and industrial cooperation under the theme “Nuclear: Powering the Development of the Pacific Basin and the World”.

More than 800 representatives from over 40 countries attended the conference, which was jointly hosted by the Chinese Nuclear Society and the Pacific Nuclear Council in Beijing.
