Premier Li Keqiang met with Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia on July 16.

The Premier first extended cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping to President U Htin Kyaw. Premier Li said that since China and Myanmar established diplomatic relations 66 years ago, the two countries had deepened their friendly relationship based on the jointly-proposed Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

China respects Myanmar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the development path suited to their national conditions, the Premier said. China is willing to work together with the Myanmar government to firmly bear in mind the general direction of the bilateral relations and promote a stable, sound and long-term development of China-Myanmar relations, he said.

The Premier hopes the two countries will enhance high level exchanges and mutual political trust, and plan the development of bilateral ties in the new period.

The Premier noted that China’s and Myanmar’s economies are highly complementary to each other and have huge cooperation potential. China is willing to align development strategies with Myanmar, and strengthen cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction, education, medical treatment and water conservancy, the Premier said.

China will support Myanmar’s economic development and people’s livelihood to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results, Premier Li added.

U Htin Kyaw said China and Myanmar has long persisted with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and the relations between the two countries are developing. The Myanmar government attached great importance to its relationship with China and was willing to maintain high level exchanges, he said.

Myanmar is very glad to see the achievements that China has made in economic and social development and is very grateful for China’s help over the past years, U Htin Kyaw said. Myanmar hopes China will expand its investment in Myanmar and help its people to improve their livelihood, he added.
