Premier Li Keqiang met with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Vientiane, capital of Laos, on Sept 6, 2016.
Singapore is an important partner of China in the region. The close contact between leaders of the two nations will maintain bilateral relations, promote pragmatic cooperation, enhance friendship of people from both sides, and realize mutual benefits, said Premier Li.
ASEAN is China’s diplomatic priority. This year marks the 25th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue, and China is willing to further expand shared interests with ASEAN, seek common ground while reserving differences, and together send positive signals to regional peace and stability, said the Premier.
Singapore, being the coordination country between China and ASEAN, should continue to play a constructive role in promoting deeper relations between China and the organization, added the Premier.
Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China, and promote major cooperation projects. ASEAN and China have developed a mutually beneficial situation with more mutual interests than disputes. Singapore will make efforts to enhance mutual understanding and interests for the two sides.
