Premier Li meets with Gabonese president

Premier Li Keqiang met with President of the Republic of Gabon Ali Bongo Ondimba in Beijing on Dec 8.

Premier Li said Gabon is one of China’s important partners in the central African region. On Dec 7, President Xi Jinping and Ali Bongo held fruitful talks and agreed to lift China-Gabon relations to a comprehensive cooperative partnership.

China hopes to work with Gabon to promote traditional friendship and tap advantages of economic complementary, in a bid to boost bilateral relations and achieve more outcomes of cooperation for the benefits of the two countries, said the Premier.

Premier Li also said China is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation on development strategies in areas including energy resources exploitation, infrastructure construction, agriculture and deep-processing, with an aim to further boost economy, improve people’s well-being and enhance sustainable development.

He added China’s self-developed civil aircraft are known for their high security and low prices, which can meet the demand of regional aerospace development in African countries. It presents an opportunity for bilateral cooperation, said Premier Li.

Bongo said that China-Gabon pragmatic cooperation has made great progress, and both nations have maintained close exchanges on international affairs. Currently undergoing an important stage of economic transformation and upgrading, Gabon is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation in those areas and welcomes Chinese investments as a new opportunity.
