BEIJING — China will move faster on repairs to water projects damaged by floods and help cities fight waterlogging, an official statement said on Dec 21.
Embankments along the Yangtze River damaged during this year’s flood season need renovating and better management of smaller rivers and reservoirs is called for, according to the statement released after a State Council executive meeting presided over by Premier Li Keqiang.
China should also help waterlogging-prone areas by building underground drainage and pipeline corridors, the statement said.
The government will encourage private investment in the projects.
