Premier Li Keqiang stressed the importance of renovating city relics and improving residents’ living conditions during a visit to Kaifeng, Henan province, on May 8.

After inspecting streets renovated in ancient styles, Premier Li also visited residents in the city’s shanty town.

As a city with a vast and interesting history, Kaifeng faces the important but difficult task of protecting historical relics while improving the living conditions of its old district.
