Premier Li Keqiang has attended an innovative auto exhibition in Belgian, hosted by Geely-Volvo, with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.

At the event, on June 2, Premier Li was introduced to new products jointly developed by Geely and Volvo.

The Premier spoke highly of their efficient cooperation, turning joint R&D into innovative results, and said he hoped the two carmakers could bring their comparative advantage in talent, funds, technology and market into full play internationally.

Premier Li, who was also able to get a close look at the new car on display at the event, checked the engine and design with his Belgian counterpart, and discussed the energy consumption of the car, as well as the materials used to build the model and sales details.

He then spoke to the enterprise about launching more products which suit consumer’s personal demand with a more personalized design.

Premier Li heard, since Volvo was acquired by Geely in 2010, the Geely-Volve Ghent assembly plant has had a stable growth in both exportation and production in Belgium, which has effectively driven up local employment rates.

The Premier said China was also carrying out the Made in China 2025 strategy to further promote opening-up, and encouraging more foreign investment and international cooperation.

“With craftsmanship spirit in mind, China will upgrade its manufacturing industry while reaching mutually beneficial results with other nations,” he said.
