On Dec 22, Premier Li Keqiang met with visiting Gambian President Adama Barrow in Beijing.
The Premier said the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Gambia conforms to historical trends and opens a new chapter for bilateral ties. He acknowledged the fruitful talks between Barrow and President Xi Jinping and hoped that Gambia can stick to the one-China policy.
China is willing to promote the bilateral ties based on mutual respect and equal treatment, he said.
Premier Li noted China is ready to make use of complementary strengths of the two countries to promote pragmatic cooperation in agricultural technology, fish processing, infrastructure construction and tourism.
The country is willing to continue support for Gambia’s social and economic development to the full extent of its capability, added the Premier.
Barrow said Gambia appreciates China’s longtime support for Gambia and hopes for continuous help from its sincere partner. Gambia will firmly adhere to the one-China policy and is willing to promote cooperation with China on agriculture, infrastructure construction and tourism, he added.
