Premier Li Keqiang urged more efforts in afforestation, fire prevention in forests and grasslands, and flood and drought control in an instruction to a teleconference on April 3.

The Premier said those efforts are significant for social-economic sustainable development and the safety of people’s lives and property.

He urged achieving the goal of afforesting over 6.7 million hectares this year and improving irrigation infrastructure.

Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua also addressed the conference, which was chaired by State Councilor Wang Yong.
