On June 7, Premier Li Keqiang met with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, who is in China on a state visit and to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Qingdao Summit scheduled to be held this weekend.
As friendly neighbors, Premier Li said, China and Kyrgyzstan have always had mutual respect and the concept of win-win cooperation, thus witnessing significant development in bilateral ties since the establishment of their diplomatic relationship 26 years ago.
The comprehensive strategic partnership that President Xi Jinping and President Jeenbekov declared to set up yesterday will promote the China-Kyrgyzstan relationship to a higher level, the Premier said.
Noting that the potential for cooperation is vast for the two countries due to strong complementarity in their economies, Premier Li said that China is ready to promote pragmatic cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in fields such as capacity, interconnectivity and finance.
He said that China is willing to expand its imports of high-quality agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan, and will support capable Chinese enterprises to invest in Kyrgyzstan. “I hope that Kyrgyzstan can offer convenience and guarantee for that.”
The Premier also anticipated that both sides could enhance cooperation under the framework of the SCO while promoting regional economic cooperation together.
Jeenbekov hailed China’s great achievements since its reform and opening-up 40 years ago, saying they have had a positive and significant impact on the development of the whole world.
The establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership unveils a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, he said, while expressing his country’s hope to enhance synergy in development strategies.
He also said Kyrgyzstan is ready to deepen cooperation with China in investment, the processing industry, agriculture, new energy, transportation and sanitation, and to expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
Kyrgyzstan is willing to provide convenience for Chinese enterprises to invest there, Jeenbekov added.
