Premier Li Keqiang met with 29 foreign ambassadors to China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Sept 30, ahead of the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Premier Li welcomed and talked with the ambassadors, who all assumed office in China in the past year. He spoke highly of bilateral relations between China and their countries and regions, and asked them to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to their state leaders, their nations and the people.

The Premier stressed that China is committed to enhancing bilateral political trust, deepening pragmatic cooperation, and advancing coordinative cooperation in international and regional issues. He expressed hope the ambassadors could visit more places in China, and contribute to the relationship between China and their countries, and the Chinese government is glad to provide all possible convenience and support.

China adheres to following the road of peaceful development, and sticks firmly to promoting the economic globalization, he said.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up policy. As world’s largest developing country, China is willing to achieve common development with other countries in further opening-up, said the Premier.

He said China will join hands with other countries against the rise in unilateralism and protectionism to consolidate partnership relations on the basis of mutual respect, equal treatment and win-win cooperation and promote the link of development strategies.

Adhering to the principle of joint discussion and sharing, China will promote the Belt and Road Initiative with other countries, join hands to defend the multilateralism and free trade and build up an open global economy to add new growth engines to the stable and balanced development of world economy, added the Premier.

The ambassadors expressed their warm congratulations on the 69th anniversary of the founding of the PRC and conveyed greetings from their own countries and leaders to China’s government leaders and people. With its remarkable development achievements, China’s further reform and greater opening-up will surely bring more opportunities to the world, said the ambassadors.

They said they are willing to play an active role in pushing friendly cooperation, mutual benefits and win-win results between China and those countries and regions.

Following the meeting, the ambassadors were invited to take part in the reception marking China’s National Day.

State Councilor Wang Yi also attended those activities.
