Premier Li Keqiang met with Dominican President Danilo Medina Sánchez at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Nov 2.
Medina is on a state visit to China and will attend the China International Import Expo.
Premier Li said that China and the Dominican Republic established diplomatic relations in May, which is in the fundamental interest of the two peoples and opens a new chapter for China-Dominica relations.
President Xi Jinping held talks with President Medina, and the two leaders drew a blueprint for the development of relations between the two countries, he added.
The Premier emphasized that the one-China principle is the political basis of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and China is willing to work with Dominica in the same direction and promote the sustained and stable development of bilateral relations.
Saying that both economies are highly complementary and have great potential for pragmatic cooperation, the Premier said that China will support Chinese enterprises and financial institutions to carry out cooperation with Dominica in electricity, transportation and ports, in accordance with market principles and commercial principles.
“China is willing to import high-quality products from Dominica and expand economic and trade exchanges between the two countries,” the Premier said.
He also said that China and Dominica have broad prospects in cooperation, and it is hoped that the two sides will take this opportunity to expand personnel exchanges and cultural exchanges.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between Dominica and China has started a new phase, and bilateral cooperation in various fields has been fruitful, which can bring tangible benefits to the two peoples, Medina said.
Dominica welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Dominica, while expanding exports of various products to China, and strengthening cooperation in the field of electricity, which will achieve mutual benefits and win-win results, he added.
