On July 14, Premier Li Keqiang met with Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj at the Mongolian Government Palace in the capital Ulaanbaatar.
After passing on greetings from President Xi Jinping to Elbegdorj, Premier Li said China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors and China is happy to see that stable development of the bilateral strategic partnership is gaining momentum. He added that China is willing to carry out the consensus that was reached before, further enriching Sino-Mongolia relations, promoting cooperation in all sectors and improving the well-being of people from both countries.
Premier Li also pointed out this year marks the 20th anniversary of ASEM. Eurasia is the world’s largest continent, and the economic volume of Asian and European countries takes up about half of the world’s total volume, so the continent’s development and stability play a crucial role in the world’s peace and prosperity.
Some international issues such as terrorism and refugees have tremendous impact across Eurasia. China is willing to put more emphasis on embracing a peaceful, friendly and cooperative development to enhance Asia-Europe cooperation and to cope with the challenges, guarantee peace and stability and promote mutual development.
Elbegdorj said an article by Premier Li, which was published by mainstream media in Mongolia, has gained great popularity. And Sino-Mongolia strategic partnership has been successfully carried out with great results in different areas.
He said development is the main objective in the diplomatic policy between China and Mongolia, so we will continue to push forward cooperation between the two countries to further reach consensus on bilateral cooperation and promote more pragmatic cooperation through encouraging interconnectivity between the two countries. As the host of this year’s ASEM, Elbegdorj said dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe will reach a new level during the meeting.
