Premier Li Keqiang urged staff at the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters not to slack off as flood control is still at a critical juncture in many areas of the country during an inspection visit on July 29.
The country’s top leadership has required that great importance must be attached to people’s safety, the Premier said. The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, which works around the clock amid the current grim flood situation, is now shouldering very important responsibilities to ensure people’s safety, Premier Li said.
Premier Li stressed the importance of guarding against flood dangers at all times, after he learned about the overall situation of floods across the country. He said effective measures must be taken to ensure the safety of big and small rivers, lakes and dikes.
Measures must be put in place to ensure people in regions with heavy rains can move to safety amid the danger, the Premier added.
