Premier Li Keqiang inspected a shantytown north of Wolong Mountain in Ulaanqab, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Feb 2.
After getting a full view of the area from a high slope, the Premier went to visit residents in the shantytown.
At one house, the Premier was told that despite the extreme coldness in winter, to avoid the potential of gas poisoning, people in some households dare not use the heating overnight, and instead put on thick clothing and use quilts to stay warm.
He also learned that another household bore the heavy burden of medical expenses because of the limited coverage of medical insurance for serious diseases.
Premier Li then asked local officials to fully check residents’ various difficulties and offer proper solutions. He urged them to make resolutions to completely change the living conditions in this area.
