Premier Li Keqiang and President Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola meet journalists together

In the morning of May 9 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and President Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola met journalists together and took their questions after holding talks in the presidential palace of Angola.

Li Keqiang said that Angola is an important cooperative partner for China and both sides are each other’s opportunity for development.

“I have had fruitful talks with President Dos Santos. The two sides have agreed to set up a working group to make comprehensive plans for China-Angola cooperation in key fields; to connect vast demand for infrastructure construction of the Angolan side with relatively strong advantages of production capacity and technology in relevant fields and foreign reserves of the Chinese side, and to make full use of market rules to promote relevant cooperation to another new stage; to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, and the Chinese side is ready to share technology and experience with the Angolan side in an unreserved manner; to establish frequent and close people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and the Chinese side is willing to support the Angolan side in strengthening human resources training and expanding youth employment.”

Li Keqiang stressed that about one million Chinese citizens are working and living in Africa, among which 260,000 are in Angola alone. The Chinese government supports capable and reputable Chinese enterprises to invest in Angola, participate in Angola’s economic and social development and boost local employment, and asks Chinese enterprises and citizens in Angola to abide by local laws and respect local culture and custom. Hope that the Angolan side would ensure their safety and provide more convenient working and living conditions for them.

Dos Santos said that China is a good friend and good partner for Angola and that bilateral cooperation is of reciprocity and mutual benefit. Premier Li Keqiang’s successful visit to Angola has promoted Angola-China relations to a new level. The Angolan side is willing to work with China to give full play to their complementary advantages, enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and will continue to provide safe and sound environment for Chinese enterprises and citizens investing and doing business in Angola.
