In the morning of May 10 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya jointly met with journalists after holding talks at the State House of Kenya.

Li Keqiang briefed on the outcomes of the talks between the two leaders and stressed that China-Kenya relations and cooperation have now stepped into a new stage of rapid development. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the Kenyan side, expand cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, personnel training, wildlife conservation and other fields, and intensify coordination in regional and international affairs, so as to promote China-Kenya relations to continue to move forward.

In answering the question on how to promote balance of bilateral trade, Li Keqiang pointed out that trade and investment constitute the cornerstone of China-Kenya relations, and that China has never pursued surplus in its foreign trade. As the development of trade status is determined by the market, the Chinese government stands ready to provide facilitation for Kenya to promote marketable goods in China, encourage competent Chinese enterprises to expand investment in such fields as manufacturing in Kenya, actively participate in building industrial parks in Kenya, and help Kenya improve product processing capability and competitiveness in international market.

Kenyatta expressed that for years, Kenya and China have conducted mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, which has greatly facilitated Kenya’s economic and social development. The Kenyan side is willing to give play to complementary advantages and carry out more diversified cooperation with the Chinese side, and will offer more facilitation for Chinese enterprises to invest in Kenya. Kenya hopes to conduct closer cooperation with China in safeguarding regional peace and stability in Africa.
