Premier Li: More two-way investment benefits China, Italy

Premier Li Keqiang has met with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, after he arrived in Rome -- the last stop on his Europe tour.

At the meeting on Oct 14, Premier Li said expanding two-way investment is mutually beneficial. Li encouraged more Chinese investors to come to Italy and he said China welcomes more Italian companies to do business in the country. Napolitano agreed to push the bilateral relationship to a higher-level. And he said Italy would play an active role in promoting China’s relationship with Europe.

Earlier in the day, Premier Li met Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. They announced $10 billion ’ worth of deals. Among them were investment in energy firms and Chinese banks opening new lines of credit to Italian companies. Premier Li will attend a summit of Asian and European leaders in Milan on Oct 16. Italy is the last stop of Li’s three-nation Europe tour, which has taken him to Germany and Russia.
