Premier Li Keqiang has met his Irish counterpart, Enda Kenny in Shannon town, in the west of Ireland on May 17. During their talks, the Premier suggested the two countries expand their trade and mutual investments.

The two countries have agreed on a visa-waiver deal for holders of diplomatic and service passports. Li also proposed a further facilitation on the two-way travel of business people, students and tourists. For his part, Kenny said Ireland is willing to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, clean energy and tourism. After their talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of cooperation deals involving travel and agriculture.

Ireland is the stopover for Premier Li’s Latin American tour. The Premier will arrive first in Brazil for a visit that will also include Colombia, Peru and Chile. Li will return to China via the Spanish capital, Madrid.

During his 13-day trip to six countries, he’s expected to look for cooperation in areas such as finance, technology, aerospace and infrastructure, as well as more traditional spheres such as mineral resources, energy and agriculture.
