Premier Li Keqiang has made a stopover before his four-nation tour of Latin America in Ireland.

On May 17, Premier Li met with his counterpart, Enda Kenny, in the town of Shannon in County Clare. The two sides agreed to expand bilateral cooperation and exchanges in trade, clean energy, education and various other areas.

A new visa waiver agreement and agricultural cooperation deals were also signed after their talks. Before the meeting, Kenny took Premier Li and his wife to a typical Irish family-run farm in County Mayo, where they were treated to a special serving of homemade Irish bread, cheese and milk.

China is now Ireland’s fastest-growing market for agricultural products. Premier Li noted that this gives the two nations strong complementarity and a bright future in agricultural and husbandry cooperation. Premier Li is scheduled to leave for Latin America on May 18, where he will make official visits to Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Chile.
