State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie attended a panel discussion with National People’s Congress deputies from the southern province of Hainan on March 5.

Xiao said he fully endorsed the government work report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang, noted that the report comprehensively summarizes the government’s achievements in 2018 and highlights work priorities for this year.

He stressed upholding Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to ensure the full implementation of policies set by the central government.

Xiao urged continuous efforts to win the “three tough battles” of preventing financial risks, reducing poverty and tackling pollution by advancing supply-side structural reform.

Policies on cutting taxes and fees should be implemented to stimulate market vitality, and the business environment should be further optimized by deepening administrative reform, said Xiao.

He also asked for solid efforts to ensure and improve people’s livelihood.
