Vice-Premier Ma Kai addressed a joint conference of related ministries on employment on March 1.

Ma said the task last year and during the 12th Five-Year Plan was accomplished successfully. In the past five years, the number of newly employed people was more than 64 million with registered unemployment in cities and towns remaining at around 4.1 percent.

The vice-premier stressed that employment is and will continue to be a tough problem for young people. He encouraged the promotion of mass entrepreneurship and innovation, and suggested migrant workers should start their own businesses in their hometowns.

More instructions and support should be given to important regions and industries and job training should be continued to improve the public’s employability, he said.
