Vice-premier hails innovation in Shaanxi

During an inspection tour to Shaanxi province, Vice-Premier Liu Yandong attended the 3rd China College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and visited Yangling’s national agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zone.

While meeting with representatives of students and teachers participating in the competition, Liu encouraged universities and colleges to deepen innovation-driven strategy and advance higher education reform to cultivate future followers of socialism motivated by vision and belief.

At Yangling’s high-tech demonstration zone, the vice-premier hailed the innovative efforts made in developing modern agriculture in arid and semiarid areas.

“We should cultivate a new type of professional farmer, develop a smart agriculture, and stimulate vitality in innovation,” said the vice-premier. “Technologies and industries should be better utilized to alleviate poverty and bring people benefits while pushing forward the integration of urban and rural areas.”

“Agriculture should also blend into the Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing cooperation with other countries and boosting modern agriculture around the world,” she added.
