Vice-Premier Liu He met with Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank, in Beijing on Sept 4. Adesina attended the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

At the opening ceremony of the summit, President Xi Jinping emphasized building a closer China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, and put forward eight initiatives, which China will put into effect as soon as possible, Liu said.

China hopes that the African Development Bank will continue to play an important leading role in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, becoming the bridge for enhancing China-Africa pragmatic cooperation, he added.

The African Development Bank’s development strategy is highly compatible with the Belt and Road Initiative, and it is willing to strengthen cooperation with China to promote development with mutual benefits and win-win results, Adesina said.
