Vice-premier visits citizens from ethnic groups

Sun Chunlan, vice-premier and deputy head of a central government delegation, along with other delegation members, made a stop in Chongzuo city, Southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Dec 13. They visited citizens from ethnic groups and celebrated the 60th anniversary of the founding of the autonomous region with them.

They arrived at Youyi Guan (Friendship Pass) in the morning and learned about the development of its services and foreign exchanges.

During her inspection at Guangxi Chongzuo East Asia Sugar Co Ltd, Sun pressed for a speedy restructuring and upgrading progress and active fulfillment of social responsibilities. She also hoped the company will help local people lead a prosperous life.

At the Chongzuo Charity House, Sun visited senior citizens and children, extending her wishes for the charity house staff so that they can carry out related policies on developing welfare services.

During Sun’s visit to the Chongzuo People’s Hospital, she urged the staff to deepen comprehensive reform, play a leading part in the development of medical services and bring convenience to the local people.

In the afternoon, Sun met with local representatives of ethnic groups from all walks of life and attended a symposium celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Guangxi autonomous region.

At the symposium, Sun called for efforts to upgrade traditional industries and facilitate the prosperity of strategic emerging industries.

In the meantime, people’s well-being should be high on the local government’s agenda, in order to further benefit citizens on a large scale, the vice-premier said, stressing the balanced development of rural and urban education and the improvement of public health.

In addition, the local government should attach more importance to ecological conservation and remain a stickler for the solidarity of all ethnic groups and peaceful situation in border areas, she said.
