Vice-premier stresses deepened reform of govt administration

BEIJING — Vice-Premier Han Zheng stressed on Jan 29 efforts to further transform functions of government organs and streamline government administration.

“The work should focus on enabling the market to play the decisive role in resource allocation and adhering to the direction of market-oriented and law-based reform,” said Han, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at a meeting of the State Council coordinating group on transforming government functions and improving government services.

Han called for efforts to address major concerns of enterprises and the people, prioritize key fields, deepen reform and innovate ways of regulation to stimulate market vitality, let the people experience real improvement and promote sustainable, healthy social and economic development.

He noted that experiments in some places on the reform of the approval system of construction projects have been successful and will be applied throughout the country this year, cutting the approval time by half.
