BEIJING — China has launched a campaign to select and honor 20 outstanding grass-roots police officers, and to call on all members of the police force to learn from them.
Public security organs, media outlets, and the public can recommend qualified police officers as candidates, and the final list will be released in late October, according to a joint statement by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Ministry of Public Security.
The campaign is to encourage police across the country to work hard to maintain political security and social stability, and to improve public understanding of the police's work, the statement said.
Activities will be held in communities, villages, enterprises, and schools to tell the stories of the selected police officers.
