BEIJING — China’s Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun on March 23 called for strengthened efforts against narcotics.
Guo, also head of the National Narcotics Control Commission, made the remarks at a meeting of the commission.
Guo stressed that work should focus on closing drug production sites, arresting drug trafficking rings and controlling drug user groups.
The crackdown should be intensified to arrest the spread of the drug problem, Guo said, noting that the problem should be solved from its source with the involvement of all parts of society.
He called for more publicity and education efforts to combat drug issues.
He also underscored professionalism, rule of law, use of technology and international cooperation.
