Vice-premier meets Rosneft CEO Sechin

BEIJING — Vice-Premier Han Zheng on Nov 29 met with Igor Sechin, chief of Russian oil company Rosneft, who was in Beijing to attend the China-Russia energy business forum.

Han, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said energy cooperation between China and Russia is long-term, steady and in-depth, and has great potential and broad prospects.

China is willing to join hands with Russia to further deepen pragmatic cooperation in areas including energy trade, oil-gas exploration and development, as well as energy technology equipment following the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, Han said, vowing to increase financial support and carry forward major projects cooperation to jointly promote the constant development of bilateral energy cooperation.

Sechin, also the executive secretary of the Russian Presidential Commission for the Strategic Development of the Fuel and Energy Sector and Environmental Security, commended the forum for providing a new platform for the enterprises of both sides to align strategic major projects cooperation.

Russia stands ready to further promote and deepen its energy cooperation with China under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and Eurasian Economic Union, said Sechin.
